CLOUD - Make Line Monitor Setup

Introduction

The CLOUD system provides a number of special features. One of those is the Make Line Monitor. The job of the Make Line Monitor is to display to the current products to be made in the Kitchen. Like all CLOUD features the Make Line Monitor (MLM) is powerful and flexible.

This document explains the different ways the MLM can be configured and used.

Single Screen MLM

This is an example of the default MLM which puts all orders to a single screen.

One of the most obvious methods to adjust the setup of the MLM is to add a second (or more screens) to spread the load.

The first MLM is called the Primary Screen. You can in the Back Office > Configuration > MLM Configuration turn on more MLM.

Once more than one MLM is turned on that method to assign orders to a Make Line becomes important.

Multiple Screens MLM

Load Balancing

This is the default method for assigning orders. Orders are assigned to a Make Line on a first come basis. You will notice that if you enter a lot of orders at once they don’t all appear on the MLM at once, it may take a few refreshes for all the orders to appear on the MLM. This is done to give other MLM’s a chance to assign an order to themselves. This was the number of orders on any one MLM should be equal to the others. This works in a kitchen where they have identical sections that can produce all products.

Order Type (Pickup/Delivery)

This method assigns orders to a MLM based on the order type. All Deliveries will go to one MLM and every other order to another MLM.

This works best in large kitchen with multiple sections. There are options to do the same on a single MLM screen.

DUAL MLM (2 Column)

In kitchens that don’t have separate sections, nor the volume and or space for extra computers to run separate MLMs we have the option to run 2 columns on a single screen. We call this feature the Dual Make Line Monitor.

The first column is for Pickup and the second for Delivery.

Dual Make Line monitors can run on any size screen, but we recommend using Wide screens so the columns don’t look so bunched up as below.

The Dual MLM can even run over 2 monitors on a single computer. Because of these complex features, you will need to contact Support to setup a Dual MLM as the local\ipos.inc file needs to be altered to match your hardware.

*Note that the statistics banner (purple) is duplicated on both monitors.

Screen Resolutions

The final piece of the MLM puzzle is the resolution of the screen. The MLM will support any size screen, big or small landscape or portrait, widescreen or standard. These settings are also in local\ipos.inc so contact Support to set them up. But here is an idea of some of the ways we can set it up.

The Portrait settings are obtained by physically twisting the screen and telling Windows that the screen is on its side, again you will need to contact Support to get the Windows settings right first before we change the MLM.
